Findings on children’s sociomoral development suggest that children’s emerging moral and social capacities may provide opportunities for parents to engage their children in useful discussions around the superhero media they consume.
These discussions may stimulate children’s understandings of the events observed in superhero narratives and conceptual associations between these fictional events and everyday events they experience or witness.
“…it is worth considering (and studying) whether or not co-viewing rooted in acts involving harm and the people involved in them might contribute to our understanding of both children and co-viewing.”
