How Africa Shaped the Christian Mind (2007) by Thomas Oden

When

I read this during my doctoral studies program.

Why

For various reasons, I have been interested in Africa’s contributions to global Christianity and the role of Africa within biblical antiquity.

How

This book is an indirect influence on my current scholarship at best. Nevertheless, I think Oden’s examination of the role of various cultural influences and exchanges in amalgamating what we come to understand as the broader Christian worldview is important for my thinking as an interdisciplinary scholar.
