Research in Psychology (Spring)

  • The course aims to familiarize students with the basic principles behind the psychological research process, including research question and hypothesis, design, data collection and analysis, and writing up results.

    1. Understand psychological processes and methods.

    2. Understand how to conduct psychological research in a manner that respect human subjects’ welfare, rights, and dignity.

    3. Critically evaluate psychological research.

    4. Conduct a research study from conceptualization to dissemination.

    1. Seeing students get interested in a research project and realize investigating their interests in a semester is feasible.

    2. Fielding students’ thoughtful questions about developing good research designs.

  • As with Psychological Statistics, I view research as a tool for problem solving and decision making. So every domain in life has been and can be informed by sound research.

    1. Finding ways to either redesign aspects of the research project and/or have students start them a little sooner.

    2. Finding ways to teach the classes covering various research designs more dynamically or in a way where students are more involved in the teaching/agenda for those particular classes.
